Leading with Emotional Intelligence

“No doubt emotional intelligence is more rare than book smarts, but my experience says it is actually more important in the making of a leader.” Jack Welch

Ever since Daniel Goleman first popularised the concept in 1995, Emotional Intelligence has become increasingly accepted as the key differentiator between good and great leaders.

This course teaches current and future leaders how to use EI to be more compelling, inspirational and resilient.

Participants learn:

  • Why emotional intelligence is fundamental to successful leadership
  • Both the commercial case and the personal case for emotional intelligence
  • The core components of emotional intelligence
  • The critical skills of the emotionally intelligent leader
  • Where their personal Emotional Intelligence strengths and development areas lie
  • Strategies to improve their Emotional Intelligence every day

Course outline

Before the course, participants complete a personal Emotional Intelligence survey. This report forms the basis of the personal learning throughout the session.

We use exercises, group discussion and clips from EI experts, plus clips showing times when people in the public eye were, and were not, able to use EI.

Participants leave having made a commitment and a plan to help them build their EI back in the workplace.
